I’ve caved in
Posted on September 5th, 2008 @ 7:32 pm

I know it’s been quite a while since my last entry but I am back. I’ve started a new fan site so all my mind set went there and now that it’s all done, I can get back to my blogging. If you’ve been reading the past few entries, you may already know who it’s about. Oh dear… she did it.

http://aaron-eckhart.fan-sites.org

Thank you Gwen <3!

I don’t want to get into too much detail but I’m in the process of applying for university. I don’t even want to say anything other than that because I’m a pessimist and I know you don’t want to read all negative thoughts about it. I thought I’d just put it out there and tell you where my other mindset was. Just wish me luck? ;-)

I have a party to attend to tomorrow. Unfortunately NOT a themed party which sucks. One of my oldest friends is turning 21 so she’s having a huge party with family and friends. I thought it was nice of her to invite me since I don’t really see her anymore. These are friends whom I used to be so close with until high school ended. It was one of those drifting apart from group situations. But it’ll be great to catch up with them. Also I still have to buy a birthday card and wrapping paper.

Spring has started but it poured gallons of rain today. Nice introduction, eh? Before you know it, it’ll be Summer. Santa is in shorts in December. I can’t stand summer. I’ve always said I’d rather freeze my ass off than sweat my ass off.

Now time to return comments!

The nostalgia hits
Posted on August 22nd, 2008 @ 4:22 pm

I had the biggest nostalgia hit several nights ago. I was on Wikipedia looking up all these pop groups I used to listen to back in the late 90s. I mostly listened to UK pop groups and it had gotten so overboard that I wanted to move there and devour myself into the pop music friendly country (now not so much). Do you remember….. B*witched, 5ive/Five (baby, when the lights go out….), Steps, BBMak, a1, Girl Thing? I listen to S Club 7 sometimes as they are my guilty pleasure. I just thought about how awesome their songs were although I haven’t got the CDs out to listen to them. Those were some good times. Too bad music isn’t what it used to be when I was growing up.

I went to a screening of Aaron E.’s new movie, Towelhead. It comes out in limited release there on September 12 — you HAVE TO SEE IT! It is so powerful and amazing, I’m not kidding. It’s about this 13 year old girl named Jasira who has a sexual awakening and basically discovering herself for the first time (periods, sex, orgasms — all there). It’s based on the book (see previous entry on the attempt of getting the book), that you must read too. There’s a scene where Mr. Vuoso (Aaron) stops by Jasira’s house to tell her off about hitting his son in the arm and to get the Palace (aka Playboy) magazine back. He’s standing behind her, has his hands on her shoulders pushing her forward and telling her to get the magazine back. After that …. Wow. I guess you know what happens after.

I have been watching endless episodes of Family Guy, The Simpsons, Futurama and King of the Hill because one of the cable channels is showing episodes from each show all day and all night, all throughout the duration of the Olympics. I’ve never really watched Family Guy but I have a feeling I’ve caught up on all the episodes. I’m starting to get a little fascination with Peter Griffin. I mean the guy has balls for a chin. Don’t you agree? Even my mum pointed it out!

I just seem annoyed this whole time
Posted on August 13th, 2008 @ 3:30 pm

I’m knee deep in converting my fan site from HTML to PHP, a new layout and organizing chunks of information that hasn’t been touched since I started so that’s why there have been no posts. I’m still not done but hopefully it’ll be done sometime this week. (EDIT: All finished! http://ryan-gosling.fan-sites.org.) Also, my life’s a bit of bore at the moment.

I went out into the City today to buy my dad a birthday present and also a book for myself. I was going to go to the local mall but when I went to call the bookstore before I left, they completely forgot about my phone call and left me not wanting to go there. I say, “I was wondering if you had Towelhead by Alicia Erian…”, the girl on the other line said she’ll look for it. Then all I hear is her having a long conversation and a little typing then silence. I was getting annoyed because it shouldn’t take this long. Looked on the timer on the phone almost 4 minutes had passed so I hung up. She had obviously forgotten she was on the phone with a customer. Also I called Borders on the way there, boom, got it in a minute. What a great job she’s doing.

I’ve been doing so much driving lately because a family friend has decided to help me out to get my hours up. Yesterday I had a driving lesson with an instructor in the afternoon then had one at night with the family friend. In the night driving, I was driving down these complicated windy roads, so many of them and some asshole beeped at me twice. I was so annoyed because 1) windy roads are difficult to drive in and 2) I could have an accident if I went faster. I think it was the first time I got beeped at as a learner driver. Some people just don’t have patience. I mean, you were an L plater before. They probably didn’t get the last muffin at work or something, that’s why they’re grumpy.

I’ll be seeing Wall-E this week. Most of the time we’re behind on movies in the States. It’s only every now and then we’re at the same wavelength as they are. I’m mildly looking forward to it. Disney animated films aren’t really my thing, especially robots so I’ll see how it goes.

It’s getting personal now
Posted on August 3rd, 2008 @ 8:22 pm

These past few days I haven’t been feeling so well. The flu is going around and I think it’s finally gotten to me. I have the early stages where it starts off in my throat then spreads around my system. Last night I went to bed at 12:30am but I couldn’t go to sleep straight away and this had to happen….

What I like about having this blog is I can be as personal as I want to, and this entry is one of them. It’s a glimpse of it. Honestly, I don’t really have a personal life. It’s non existent. I wasn’t exaggerating about that in my bio section, it does come out every now and then but not in the best light.

Before I go to bed, I never put my phone on silent because no one calls me at night so I’m not bothered with it. I’m tossing and turning in bed, then my phone rings and it was from this guy. Long story short, we have a complicated relationship/non relationship and him screwing up with my mind basically. I picked up the phone, looked at the time it was 2:01am. I answered it unhappily, he makes sexual noises on the other line and I hung up. I was supposed to go into the City for his 22nd birthday celebration at a club but I chose not to go. Therefore that phone call was a drunken phone call. A few minutes later, my text message ringtone goes off, it was from a number that I didn’t have and the message had a very “enticing” sexual come-on. It was probably from someone he was with, whom we both know and was using their phone. Then I get another one then I finally decided to put my phone on silent. When I woke up this morning, there was another sexual message sent a little bit after the last one. It made me so fucking angry because I ABSOLUTELY hate drunken texts and calls and I am always a victim of them, for some odd reason. Another reason is because I’m tired of this person’s antics, with his come-ons towards me when he FEELS like it. He’s hurt me a lot but I’ve grown up and I don’t need it anymore. Because I know one day, someone will treat me with the love and respect that I truly deserve. Guys around my age are douchebags. Period.

I woke up this morning, I probably felt worse than I did last night. I took two cold and flu tablets and I swear I was going to pass out. My dad made me take two instead of one because I’m no longer under the age of 12 like it says on the box. But nope, I can’t take it. I became too drowsy and sleepy at 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Never again. Although, good for recreational use. Hehe. I’m supposed to have taken them 20 minutes ago but I’m afraid if I do, I’ll pass out for 24 hours.

I don’t care if I feel like shit or on an IV at a hospital for the flu, I will be seeing Pineapple Express tomorrow. James Franco is unbelievably hot and I love his smile. It’s the most geeked-out smile ever. Hopefully it will be a good movie!

Cold, cold, cold
Posted on July 29th, 2008 @ 8:13 pm

I saw Tropic Thunder last night and it was HILARIOUS! I have to say it’s one of the best comedies I have seen this year. I laughed so much in almost every scene and had after giggles even if that particular scene was over. Ben Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. — everyone in that movie was so funny. I wish I could say more but I can’t! I have to save it all for my review in the coming weeks. All I can say for now is: Tom Cruise. Before they showed it, they were talking about how they’ll get people to see the movie is by word of mouth and I am doing that right now so you MUST go see it when it comes out!

Here’s the trailer:

I’m happy to say that my driving is getting to pristine. My problem in the earlier lessons was I steered too much when turning. But now I don’t do that too much and I’m glad. I’m way more relaxed and not gripping onto the steering wheel for dear life and less sweaty hands. Although I need to look into my mirror a lot more and try not to get too close to the parked cars. Next, parking…. *groan*

I told my friend about Mr. Aaron E. living in our area (see previous entry) and she was absolutely shocked. It’s good to know that I’m not the only one that acted like that. LOL. She was saying how that’s our in with him if we ever talk to him, I go “Oh yeah,” then she goes, “Before we take him home that is.” Hehe, damn right.

Can I just say how FREEZING cold it is here right now? Lately it’s been 14 degrees and apparently a few days ago it was 8 degrees. Also adding to that is the excessive rain too. As I’m typing, each of my fingers feels like they’ve been in the freezer all day. I’m not complaining though, I adore the cold. I can stay in bed all warm with the heater on. Mmmm, one of my favourite things to do during winter.

I’m giddy and I like it
Posted on July 27th, 2008 @ 8:34 pm

WARNING - Fan Girl Moment.

My fascination with Aaron Eckhart goes way into a deep personal level now thanks to this article I came across from 2003. Also, no one’s going to stalk me anyway so I can be specific but be conspicuous at the same time. I knew he used to live in Sydney and had inklings of where he used to live, but I’ll be damned…. I was right.

————–
His first acting lesson came as a 15-year-old in England but when his father got the call to move to Sydney, Eckhart, a keen surfer when the family lived in California, couldn’t have been happier.

He continued his acting at a “small dramatic school” in George Street, Sydney, but short of cash he sought a job at a cinema in a shopping mall on Sydney’s north shore, near Manly.

I worked at Warringah Mall as a movie usher,” he says with a laugh.

………….

When he wasn’t in acting school or at the mall, Eckhart was with his surfboard on one of Sydney’s northern beaches.

“I surfed at Manly, Dee Why and all the way up the coast,” he said.

“They were really good waves, then we moved to Hawaii after that and there were even better waves.”

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2003/05/01/1051382044751.html
——————–

I’d just like to make a few notes…

1) I go to that mall, probably more than I should
2) I’m from “Sydney’s North Shore” (it’s actually the Northern Beaches, journalist)
3) I am very familiar with the places where he “surfed at”
4) HOLY CRAP he used to live around here!

It blew my freakin’ mind! It just made me happy and ecstatic because it’s quite a close knit community here so having someone whose famous used to live here, and go to the places that are close to people’s hearts, is pretty awesome. He just went a million times up in my book! If the opportunity occurs, I’ll be grateful to give him the “welcome back” tour :P

Edit: Talk about being too excited! It tends to happen from time to time. Now I’ve finally calmed down and it became a so-so fact, a “that’s pretty cool” conversation piece.

I rented a few of his movies a few days ago and I never knew The Core was a comedy. It’s not meant to be but how could you not laugh when pigeons are dropping dead from the sky and people are running for their lives, and more pigeons crashing into vehicle windows killing the drivers? What? I have a weird sense of humour so I just laughed a lot during that scene.

I went to a friend’s 21st yesterday and it was alright. Despite the fact that it’s winter here, the festivities were outside so all of us were in large coats, hand in pockets and shivering. The party decor was adult-themed with blowup dolls and boob balloons, and even the game of pass the parcel was adult. My friend got a boobie back scratcher, a friend of a friend got a squishy dick key chain and another friend of mine got the main present which was a boob bra. Nice, eh? Not really my taste in party decor but whatever makes the birthday boy happy. However the cakes (five of them, mmm!) were not adult-themed so thank god for that.

Next up on the movie agenda, tomorrow, will be Tropic Thunder! I’m really excited to see it. It looks hilarious and I hope it will be! I cannot wait to see what Robert Downey Jr. does in the movie. We always need more RDJ in the world.

I guess it wasn’t tarty at all
Posted on July 22nd, 2008 @ 5:03 pm

My friend’s birthday party was a lot of fun. Plenty of food, drinks and pool. The room she hired had two pool tables and some people didn’t leave there during the whole night. I chatted amongst my friends, especially with ones whom I haven’t seen in ages so it was really good to see them. I know I said in my previous entry that the dress that I bought was tarty. Well after wearing it, it wasn’t that tarty after all and my friends were even complimenting it so I guess it wasn’t that bad. Here is my Socialite outfit:

My make up was pink, my shoes were also pink and I had on butterfly chandelier earrings (which you can’t see in the photo, I really liked them).

Other people went as Satan, Sleek and Sexy, Superman, Suit, the birthday girl was a Serving wench and of course there were people there who didn’t try at all. Fine, don’t celebrate the theme then :P

Today was probably the worst driving lesson yet. I went on a dual roundabout indicated left, not realising that I did this, I went all the way around to the right confusing all the drivers around me. Oh my goodness, it was so embarrassing! I really thought I indicated right. There’s one major blunder and probably many more to come. LOL.

The X-Files: I Want To Believe was really good! The plot was something they would do on the TV show but it was done really well. It was a tiny bit gory at times and had to look away for a bit. There were also moments where I was saying quietly, “You idiot!”. If you see it, you might know where I said that. I got nostalgic when I heard pieces of the theme song during and after the movie. Dun-nun-nun-nun…

Be a socialite for a night
Posted on July 20th, 2008 @ 2:20 pm

Tonight I’ll be going to my friend’s 21st birthday at a pub called The Oaks. She hired a little function room there so we’ll have our own little space to do whatever. I’ve always driven past it but I’ve never actually walked in there. It’ll be fun going as I haven’t seen some of my friends in quite some time. One of my friends has my chandelier earrings so I have to remind her to give them back to me…. I miss them oh so much. Everyone has to dress up as the theme is “S is for….” I decided to pick… Socialite. My inspiration for my outfit was Paris Hilton so I bought the most tarty pink dress today, and I would like to point out that it’s definitely something I would not wear and I’m not a fan of her. I thought it would be funny to do for a night. If the pictures turn out good, I may post a picture :P

Tomorrow, next up on my movie viewing is The X-Files: I Want To Believe. No one knows anything about the plot and the stars are keeping it a secret so I’m going in there blind. Mulder and Scully together again! When I watched the TV show when I was younger, my aunt got made that they didn’t hook up so cross my fingers for her that they will.

I’ve been doing some temp work at my mum’s work recently and I can safely say I never want to look at Microsoft Excel and anything to do with spreadsheets ever again. I basically got given work that no one wanted to do. The second day I was doing laminating and I wanted to freakin’ shoot myself. Never again.

My Aaron Eckhart introductory obsession is on an all time high. I watched No Reservations, Thank You For Smoking, and Meet Bill, and I loved those. I just got The Black Dahlia so I’ll be watching that soon. There was no In The Company of Men, because I’ve been reading he’s a total asshole to women in that. Who cares, still hot hehe. Speaking of him, when I called my friend, she was about to go in and see The Dark Knight, I couldn’t help pipe up, “I love Harvey Dent. I just had to say it!”.

Another SNL video in a post? This seems almost mandatory now! I saw this last night on TV — It’s MacGruber working with his son (Shia LaBeouf) but he’s suspecting that his son might be gay. It’s really hilarious stuff :D

Why So Serious?
Posted on July 15th, 2008 @ 5:02 pm

Plugs: Arwen, Simply Precious, Kate, Dymplez, Jessica, Christina, Amarilys, Jamie

I saw The Dark Knight last night.

It was…. alright…. very mediocre…. could’ve done a little better….

NOT!

It was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. The whole movie blew my mind, specifically Heath’s performance. He scared me and made me laugh at the same time. I’m trying not to say too much because I have to save it all for my review at Tangled but all of you will not be disappointed! You have to tell me what you think of it when you see it.

Aaron Eckhart is my new celebrity crush of the moment (Who’s Yours?). Another great performance from the movie as Harvey Dent. Because of that, here is an obligatory photo:

I dare you not to have a crush on this man when you walk out of the movie! LOL.

However my evening didn’t end there.

So sleepy, ready for the Zzzzs
Posted on July 13th, 2008 @ 9:18 pm

I can barely keep my eyes open. I’m sleepy but it’s only 8:50pm. I’ve been an insomniac lately, sleeping at 1:30am (*cough*watchingQueerAsFolk*cough*) and now it’s catching up with me. Don’t mind me if the next few sentences don’t make sense….

I met up with my friends and went to the pizza place down the road from me. We just chatted and had our delicious Margharita pizzas and humongous pieces of garlic bread. I always seem to be talking about food in most of my entries so far. It’s one of those things you can’t live without. It was great seeing her and will be seeing her as much as possible before she heads back to college in the next week.

I’m excited for tomorrow because I’ll be seeing The Dark Knight at IMAX :D My friend’s boyfriend is jealous that I’m seeing it before he does (when it comes out here on Wednesday Thursday), and of course I couldn’t help gloat about it for a little bit. Very evil, hehe. I’ve heard nothing but good things about it so I’m really looking forward to it, especially seeing Heath’s performance.

Although It’s going to be a bit difficult heading in and out of the City because of World Youth Day. People from almost every country have come here to see The Pope and some other stuff to do that I can’t recall so there’s a gazillion more people here. I see it now…. crossing through the Harbour Bridge to go home at 10pm when the movie finished at 8pm. Hopefully it won’t be too bad.

On the Biography Channel, there’s this amazing documentary series that I came across called the Up! Series. It started in 1964 where they interviewed twelve seven years old kids from England about their hopes and dreams, and they keep interviewing them every 7 years to see the progress in their life. The one I watched is 7 Plus Seven, now at fourteen years old and in 1970. Now they’re up 49 Up! which was released in 2005 and the next one is 56 Up! to be released in 2011 and 2012 according to Wikipedia. I thought it was so interesting because it’s sort of some time capsule or timeline about their lives and the major changes that they go through and it’s there for the whole world to see. Would you do that something like that? If I did that, I would be laughing at myself seeing footage of me at seven years old and thinking “I can’t believe I said that!”. I think it’s one of the greatest pieces of literature I’ve come across so far.

No one will become affiliates with me which sucks. But hey, Ciao Manhattan is just a baby :)
