Get off the roads!July 9th, 2008 @ 7:29 pm
Today I had my very first driving lesson! I was super scared and nervous beforehand, and lots of anxiety. But it’s my first day driving so it’s only natural. I also did some last minute studying by reading the leaner book. I was driving around the quiet streets in my area and doing turns in a car park, getting used to operating a car, etc. I just kept stepping on the brake and accelerator pedals instead of lightly touching it so there were a lot of unintentional sudden brakes and speed. I have my next lesson in two days and I’m looking forward to get better at it. One thing I really liked doing was turning on the indicators, I don’t know why
There’s all these stages you have to go through to get your permanent license. Now, I have my L’s (Leaner’s License) and I have to do a minimum of 50 hours driving (with adult supervision) and do a test after that before I can go on to get my red P’s (Provisional Driver 1 - no adult supervision from here). It means you hold that type of license for 12 months then you do a driving test to get your green P’s. (Provisional Driver 2) After that, you hold that license for 24 months, you do another driving test before you get the proper license. It’s certainly an odd system we have here. How does it work in the States? I’ve always wanted to know. All I know is you get a learner’s permit and where do you go from there?
My mum bought me this awesome recipe book for cupcakes called “Cupcake Heaven”. They have really yummy recipes in there for Peanut butter and jelly cupcakes, Passionfruit cupcakes, coconut cupcakes and so much more good stuff.

I made Chocolate Brownie cupcakes and they turned out pretty good. In fact, there’s still some on the table right now calling out my name
I received CDs from Universal in the mail today that needs reviewing for Tangled Magazine, this British band’s second album Dirty Pretty Things - Romance at Short Notice, and Ministry of Sound 1991-2008, a 3 CD dance compilation. I’m not a dance music fan because it’s just heavy boom-booms and seizures in a track so I don’t know how I’ll get through that. I may need to drink aspirin after.

Oh wow! My sister’s getting her first driving lesson exactly a week from today! Hehe, I remember mine’s 4 years ago… Hehe. We did pretty much the same thing you did. Good luck with your next lesson! Oh woah, ok, you don’t live in the US… Hehe. That really is a weird system… Those kinds of provisions are only in place if you’re under 18 here… So wow, that’s weird…
Anyways, aww, nice, brownie cupcakes! Hehe, I’ve never had those before.
I remember my first driving lesson. It wasn’t very good :-/ That’s why I never want to drive or own a car. I’m not made for driving LOL I get way too nervous and always do things wrong.
Chocolate brownie cupcakes! OMG! I want some!
*Takes some and runs*
that is crazy. here in the US like simply precious said, its only like that in youre under 18. Once you’re 18 or over, you just have to pass the written and driving part once, and your done. Im actually suppose to take my test on the 15th of this month. hopefully all goes well. wish me luck! =]
Oh awesome! Good luck
Wow, the driver’s license system sounds like such a hassle in AU! In the USA, it varies from state to state, some states can get a learner’s permit as young as 15 and then their actual license by 16.
You have to be at least 16 to get your learner’s license here. You guys really have it easy over there. I’m jealous lol.
Oh and ahh, I wish I had been around in the 60s too!!
Your system is complicated and requires so many hours and steps. However, you probably have better & safer drivers. Here in the US, you just have to take a class at 15 and do 40 hours of driving with an adult to gain your license. However, once you hit 21 you can just take the test. It’s weird.
Those chocolate brownies are making me hungry too…
Good luck with your driving lessons! It seems scary to me too, but I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it soon.
Here in the Netherlands we don’t have those different types of licenses. You either have one or you don’t lol
Those cupcakes look really yummy! I want!
That’s cool that Universal sent you cd’s for Tangled! I feel your pain about the dance music. I’m not a fan either. I actually refuse to acknowledege it as music. It’s just noise in my book.
Thanks
I’m crossing my fingers that I can get better.
I get some from Sony BMG too
I agree with you on the comment about dance music haha, ahem I mean, the noise. It had some non 10 minute rave songs on there so it wasn’t actually that bad.
all the best with the driving lessons and everything! driving is so much fun when you really got used to it
i hope u’ll do great. the system somewhat almost similar here in Malaysia, except after the L, we go straight for 24 months of red P probation time
i’m not a good driver yet but i’m improving too
hope you’ll do the same
I feel a little bit better knowing that our system is almost like yours. I think everyone who’s learning will get better in time.
Congrats on getting your LL!
ooo that recipe book sounds great!
I love baking!!
